Founder & Visionary
Tory has made it his definite chief aim to grow high quality trees for landscape contractors. Through DCA Outdoor, he has created a superior supply chain through a network of company-owned growing operations in six states.
He incorporated landscape distribution (KAT, Brehob Nurseries, PlantRight Supply), retail and agritourism (Colonial Gardens), and networking/transportation (PlantRight, Utopian Transport) to create a streamlined way of doing business that no other company like DCA has accomplished. He is a graduate of Kansas State University with a degree in Business Administration Management.
He founded DCA Outdoor in 2016 to serve as the corporate office to include company executives, sales & marketing teams, human capital, and finance departments.
Chief Executive Officer
Joining DCA Outdoor as its CEO in December of 2021, Mike was chosen to lead the Executive Team with his responsibilities to include strategic growth of our companies. After spending 40 years in the medical device industry, he also has served as Founder and CEO of EQ Growth Solutions, LLC an advisory firm focused on helping middle market businesses identify and execute growth strategies, support the development of leadership as well as the cultural evolution. Additionally, he has served as CEO of Patterson Medical, a distributor in the physical/occupational therapy and sports medicine market as well as serving as President and CEO of Phonak US, a global hearing aid manufacturer.
Mike was born and raised in Kansas City, MO and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Emporia State University.
Chief Financial Officer
Heath joined the DCA team in 2022 as Chief Financial Officer where he focuses on connecting the vision and strategy to the company’s financial performance. He brings twenty years of experience in financial planning, facilitating mergers and acquisitions, process improvements, as well as other financial functions for various businesses in Kansas City. While Heath spent much of his career in the aerospace and defense industry, he has also spent time in public accounting at KPMG. Heath has a business degree in finance and accounting from St. Louis University and a master's degree in business administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
Heath enjoys spending time with his wife, two kids, and Irish Terrier and enjoys traveling, cooking, being in nature, and keeping up with his kids' sports teams.
President of Business Development
Named as President of Business Development in 2018, Devon is charged with managing key relationships for our production brands. Born and raised in Oregon, he attended the University of Oregon and has over 25 years of industry experience, mostly in nursery management.
He started his career managing a large bareroot nursery in Oregon and has also managed nursery operations in Oklahoma and Maryland prior to joining the team as the President of Schwope Brothers Tree Farms in 2015. A long-time passionate and well-known industry expert, one of Devon’s greatest accomplishments is being one of the first to export bareroot trees to China, a market that did not previously exist.
Chief Commercial Officer
Curt’s experience and passion is in building and coaching winning teams in pursuit of their aligned personal, team, and organizational goals. He is responsible for driving marketing and sales strategies for the DCA Outdoors brands. His activities revolve around marketing, sales, product development, and customer service to drive business growth and marketshare. Curt’s primary responsibility is to ensure the integrated commercial success of the organization. He has a degree in Business and Finance from Benedictine College and 20 years in the green industry.
Director of Planning
As Director of Planning, Gary leads the company in building a strong supply chain flow between internal brands and external vendors. With nine years in the nursery industry prior to joining DCA Outdoor, he is experienced in logistics, production planning, sales, adherence to brand and licensure regulations, and product procurement in addition to finance and budget development. Gary works closely with distribution demand and market trends to set production schedules for each of the production division, while working with supply chain vendors on multi-year supply needs.
